Sean Boysen’s 1974.5 MGB GT Project
2/19/2021
This project more than anything started by accident. Originally Sean bought an MGB GT body of the same year that had already had its engine bay adapted to accept an LS V8. Issue was that the car lacked a title, interior, and a few body panels. Sean found the car pictured here and bought it as a parts car. The problem is it was just too nice to part out. As you can see it does have a few spots of rust, but other than that it does not need anything else. The car sat uncovered in a driveway for years in the Michigan weather. Despite that, all it needed to fire was a new battery, a new fuel pump, and a carb cleaning kit. That was it. Of all the British cars to have come through the garage in recent years it is the best running one by far. More than anything it is just fun to drive! The car has brake and clutch pressure, and shifts well. Really the decision to keep it came down to the fact that the car was just too nice to take apart. Sean plans to keep the car as a running project, never taking it too far apart in one sitting. To the date of writing this post he has rebuilt the brakes, deep cleaned the interior, wrapped the steering wheel in a period correct wrap, and replaced the console light. He plans to eventually paint the rims and replace the tires. He will at some point in the distance future repair the rust spots throughout the car. Till then he plans to drive it and have some fun!
